Stretching from Vienne to Avignon, this valley is blessed with a favorable climate and varied terroir, offering ideal conditions for viticulture.

Millésime 2021 - TERRA 6840

A terroir divided into two distinct zones:

The Rhône Valley covers approximately 70,000 hectares, spread over six departments and including 28 appellations. It is divided into two main areas:

Northern Rhône Valley

It stretches from Vienna to Valencia, characterized by granite soils and steep hillsides.

Its continental climate and granite and schist soils favor the cultivation of grape varieties such as Syrah for reds and Viognier for whites. The wines from this region are renowned for their finesse and aromatic complexity, with prestigious appellations like Côte Rôtie and Hermitage that testify to the richness of this terroir.

Southern Rhône Valley

It stretches from Montélimar to Avignon, with gentler reliefs and a variety of soils.

Its more Mediterranean climate is conducive to a greater diversity of grape varieties. Appellations such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas illustrate the variety and quality of wines produced in this part of the valley.

A territory of official labels

The Rhône Valley is also a territory of official labels, with controlled (AOC) and protected (AOP) designations of origin, guaranteeing the quality and authenticity of the wines. These labels impose a strict specification, defining the territories, the authorized grape varieties, the yields, as well as other production and winemaking criteria. At Domaine les Esprits Sains, we produce and vinify the Terra 6840 according to the criteria of the AOC Côtes-du-Rhône designation.

A considerable economic impact for the region.

The economic impact of viticulture in the Rhône Valley is significant, with an important contribution to the local and national economy. The wines from this region are appreciated not only in France but also internationally, contributing to the influence of French wine culture.

Wine tourism in the Rhône Valley

The Rhône Valley is also a prime location for wine tourism, offering visitors the opportunity to discover vineyards, meet winemakers, and taste exceptional wines. It is an immersive experience in a world where each bottle tells a story, that of a terroir, a climate, and a know-how passed down from generation to generation.

A historical know-how

The know-how of the winemakers of the Rhône Valley is based on traditional methods and a philosophy of respect for the terroir. The winemakers are committed to preserving biodiversity and passing on their heritage to future generations. The blending of grape varieties is a local specialty, allowing oenologists to create wines with a varied aromatic palette, even inspiring vineyards internationally.

Conclusion

The Rhône Valley is a territory where wine is celebrated as an art, a heritage, and an essential part of French identity. It is an invitation to explore, appreciate, and share the passion for wine, a journey through the senses and time.

It is not only a wine-producing region but also a place where unique traditions and expertise are perpetuated. Its richness in grape varieties and diversity of terroirs make it a pillar of French viticulture, attracting wine enthusiasts from around the world.
