The Rhône Valley, what places to visit on the tourist route?

The Rhône Valley is a destination of choice for wine lovers, gastronomy enthusiasts, history buffs, and breathtaking natural landscapes. This region, stretching from the south of Lyon to the Camargue, offers a diversity of climates and terroirs that is reflected in the quality and variety of wines produced here.

It is here that we produce our own, Terra 6840 at Domaine Les Esprits Sains. This is the reason why we are presenting to you a part of this tourist route of the Rhône Valley and its riches.

The tourist route of the Rhône Valley is divided into two distinct parts:

  • The northern part, from Vienne to Valence
  • The southern part, from Montélimar to Avignon

Northern Valley: Renowned for its terraced vineyards on steep hillsides, where the continental climate meets the Mediterranean. The wines here are often powerful and spicy.

Southern Valley: Benefiting from a warmer climate and a more diverse grape variety, you can find grape varieties such as syrah, carignan, cinsault, and mourvèdre. This is where our estate is located.

The village of Saint-Alexandre:

This 12th-century village owes its name to a bishop of the same name who came to evangelize the city. Visitors will be charmed by its Romanesque church, chapel, old buildings, and manor house. Saint-Alexandre is also rich in history, having welcomed figures such as Rear Admiral Jean-Baptiste François Bompard and the humanist benefactor Richard Urbain.
